Club Events


Monthly Club Meeting

Meet for breakfast on the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at My Favorite Martin's in Sun Village. Pick up a visitor's pass at the entrance to Sun Village which is on Bell Road, about one mile west of Litchfield Road. This is the club business meeting and includes announcements and discussions of upcoming events and rides. The cost is $7.00 per person inclusive.

The Wednesday ride is planned and led by a club member who selects the route, picks rest stops and/or gas stops, and arranges for a place to eat. The leader often pre-rides the route to assess road conditions and check the ride distance and duration. Questions? Call Roy Meriott 623-214-7020.

Meeting Minutes   May 13, 2010


The meeting was called to order by president, Jerry Wetak, at 9:00 AM. He welcomed 2 guests. Thirty-two members were in attendance. Jerry announced that there were 11 birthdays and 4 anniversaries during the past month. This is the last official meeting until October 14, 2010.

Treasurer's Report: The report was presented by treasurer, Linda Mann:

A motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer's report.

Safety Report: Roy Merriott gave the report. He thanked everyone who led rides the past month. Mentioned especially was the ride to the Heart Attack Grill led by Tim Evans. The ride to the Copper State Cycle was another good ride where a barbecue was provided.

Roy talked about a new law regarding passing a stopped law enforcement or emergency vehicle. It is called the move-over law. Vehicles must slow down to 20 mph or move over to the left lane.

Jerry announced that Wed. rides during the summer will not be organized but will be rider's choice. They will begin at 7:00 AM meeting at the QT.

Web Site: Bruce reported that the cost of the web site went up to $5.00 per month.

Social Concerns: Marabeth McVay reported that everyone has stayed pretty well. She sent a card to Chris Larson who was hospitalized but is present this morning.

Old Business: John Elmgren talked about the plans for the Welcome Back Party next fall. The party will held Oct. 30, 2010 at the Community Center at Traditions where he and Maura live. The menu has not been decided - he is looking into a pig roast but that may not work out. There may be an auction if enough items are donated.

Roger Yadro discussed the Ladies Ride which he and Kitty led on April 30. Lunch was at Culver's.

Membership pamphlets, designed by Roy Merriott, are ready now. Anyone who wants to post one somewhere to let people know about our club may take one.

50-50 Drawing: Greg Jones conducted the drawing. Winners were Monica Smith, Roy Merriott, and Ruth Kerns.

New Business: John Elmgren is ready to begin taking orders for jackets, hats, t-shirts etc. He would like to be paid at the time of the order. He will send in an order now and again next fall.

Jerry reminded everyone about the Welcome Back Party and the Christmas Party which will be held on Dec. 7, 2010. The meeting was adjourned at 9:45 AM by president, Jerry Wetak.
